Chapada Diamantina is great to visit year-round. The rainy season (November to March) offers more impressive waterfalls and everyhing is greener, but hiking can be more challenging and rain protection is necessary. It's also warmer, ideal for bathing in the waterfalls. The dry season and winter (from April to October) are cooler, with easier hiking conditions and less rain. Taking a bath can get cold. Note that school holidays in July, December, and January tend to be busier and more expensive.

Lençóis, the gateway to Chapada, has its own airport with flights from Salvador. But they are usually expensive and not very frequent. Usually the better option is to travel from Salvador by car or bus.

We suggest a 5 to 9-day stay. The Vale do Pati trek alone takes 3 to 5 days if you choose to do it (which we highly recommend), plus you'll want time to explore the region's waterfalls and caves.

Lençóis is the main gateway to Chapada Diamantina and serves as an excellent base for exploring the region. It also has some cute streets with good restaurants and bars.

Getting Around
RentCars

Renting a car is the most convenient way to explore the region since the distances between the attractions are big and transport is usually not included in the tours. If you're doing the Vale do Pati hike, consider renting a car only for visiting other attractions, as you won't need it during the trek.
